Mike Whillock

Mike Whillock is a Partner and Co-Founder of Refine Search. He has over 20 years of recruiting and search experience, both in-house and as an external search consultant. After many years on both sides of the recruiting desk, Mike realized that the external recruiters he was working with weren’t true partners who cared about the company and its goals. It was from that realization that Refine Search was born; a search firm that places clients’ needs at the forefront.

Before Refine Search, Mike cut his teeth in the oil and gas business, leading the recruiting function for SM Energy, a Denver-based exploration and production company. He helped SM achieve its lofty growth goals by creating hands-on recruiting strategies that attracted exceptional petro-technical talent in an extremely competitive job market.

Prior to SM, Mike served as the Vice President and Managing Search Consultant for a national HR-focused search firm. He conducted national searches to locate management and executive-level human resources professionals, and also was tapped to lead new development for key markets. Mike’s experience also includes lead recruitment roles for Coors Brewing Company, Hitachi Consulting, and Accenture.

On every search, Mike strives to understand an organization’s needs so he can find candidates who go beyond the job requirements and fit into a company’s culture. That’s what keeps him energized — knowing he has the ability to bring clients the talent that will drive their companies forward and achieve their business goals.

In his downtime, you can find Mike mountain biking, skiing, and spending time with his daughters, Kate and Greer.

Mason Smith

Mason Smith is a Partner and Co-Founder of Refine Search. With nearly 20 years of experience recruiting in both corporate and agency settings, he is an industry veteran with a valuable and diverse skill set.

Prior to starting Refine Search, Mason was the Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition and a human resource business partner for engineering at DCP Midstream, a leading oil and gas company. In that role, Mason created a talent acquisition division – including its team and processes – to meet the company’s growth plan and workforce needs. Before his time with DCP, he led the contract staffing business for a national recruitment firm and was a talent acquisition lead with Molson Coors Brewing Company and ACS, Inc.

Throughout these various positions, Mason struggled to find a recruiter who could meet his expectations for understanding the industry and personnel needs. Along with Mike Whillock, he shared a desire to create a client-centered recruitment firm. Mason firmly believes in taking the time to get to know the nuances of a client’s business before he begins a search. His ability to understand the full scope of clients’ needs — from the big picture to the small details — allows him to deliver the most suitable employees to their organization.

Mason also believes in giving back and is active with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the American Heart Association, Junior Achievement, and the Mile High United Way. With five kids, Mason’s free time usually includes attending their various extracurricular activities and occasionally squeezing in a round of golf.

Kelsey McGoldrick

Kelsey McGoldrick is the Manager of Recruiting for Refine Search. With nearly 15 years of professional experience in both corporate and agency environments, Kelsey has developed a keen instinct for recruiting. She has also honed skills in account management, strategic recruitment planning, and pipeline management to build industry specific talent pools.

Prior to Refine Search, Kelsey served as a Recruiting Lead for Comcast with a focus on Finance and Business Operations, Tech Ops, Project Management, Construction, Marketing, and Sales. These roles made Kelsey a full-cycle recruiting expert, able to secure individual contributor, managerial, and director-level talent. She also worked as a Recruiter for Centura Health. She began her career as a Recruiter and an Account Executive for a large staffing firm, Aerotek. In this role, she excelled at obtaining and managing new customers in an assigned territory while managing full-cycle recruiters in several industries, including manufacturing, environmental, and engineering.

With her track record of sourcing top talent in a variety of industries, Kelsey is a key contributor to Refine Search’s success. Her ability to build genuine and trustworthy relationships is unmatched, and goes a long way toward realizing organizational short and long-term objectives.

When not in the office, Kelsey enjoys skiing, running, supporting health & nutrition initiatives, and rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles.
